The Night Abridged
You were supposed to be a sacrifice in order to bring an eldritch god to your realm, a sacrifice that was never supposed to live. Instead of dying and summoning the god intended, you find yourself face to face with an ancient being that was chained and locked away for the horrors they once committed.
They make you an offer. Become their host and allow them a taste of freedom and they will grant you power to ensure you both live. The catch is that their thoughts will become your thoughts, their weaknesses will become your weaknesses and their fears will become your fears.
But things are never as simple as they seem. After the revelation that you are more than just human, The Court of Night decides to utilise the mistake they made by brainwashing you and shape you into something of their own that most would come to know simply as The Vessel—someone who no one wishes to see at their doorstep.
After being sent out to hunt down a traitor of The Court of Night, a series of unfortunate events sends you off the intended path and onto another where you then find yourself fighting an evil greater than the ones you were taught.

Your former partner and the traitor of The Court. Before they burned the bridges between you, they were kind and understanding, even a bit protective, though, it is unknown whether everything you have been through together has been just an act.
There is a storm that rages behind their eyes, fury, and hatred burning within. But when they look at you, the storm begins to settle and is replaced by guilt and regret.
The jaded marksman. Vira has the sharpest eye Providence has to offer. The events of the past have led her to build a wall of safety around her, but there is a crack in that wall created by the few people she trusts and it is a crack that could be easily exploited if you so wished.
She is cold to the touch, much like her personality. She doesn't trust you. She can't. She can't let that crack in her wall become any bigger.
The younger brother of Vira (by three minutes). Aurius has refined mastery of all blades, though his most preferred weapon is a sword gifted to him by a dear friend. Unlike his sister, Aurius exude an air of warmth, often gracing people with a gentle smile and listening with an open ear.
He's protective of those he cares for. There is nothing he won't do for them. Nothing.
The walker of shadows. Rhian is an expert in stealth, often making their way through conflict quietly without being seen or heard. But when they are out of the shadows, they tend to be charismatic and a bit flirty, though if they want, they could be just as serious as the jaded marksman.
They can be seen as the complete opposite when on a mission, something that often throws people off when they find out that Rhian is one of the stealthiest there is in Providence.
- Play as a female, male or non-binary character and customise your Vessel.
- Romance one of four ROs.
- Reluctantly join forces with The Order of Solitar and save the future from reigning chaos or join them simply to save yourself.
- Reunite with people you never thought you'd see again. Though it may not be as heartwarming as you may think.
- Be part of the Resurrection of an Eldritch Horror that is of far greater power than you think was possible.

this if is brilliant and im loving it so far! there are a few chunks of writing that feel a bit clunky but theyre such a minor thing and the story and characters are sooo good!! theres one issue right now where when ur choosing who to attack (vira, swordsman or rhiane), the options for the swordsman and rhian both take u to the same scene, attacking rhian. love the story and cant wait to see where u take it 💗 im an absolute sucker for angst so im an absolute sucker for ILYAAAA </3333 im invested!

Felt like my comment wasn’t enough, this whole IF is a masterpiece, the writing and attention to details and environment is outstanding. The freedom we have with our character and how good the story and lore is just rahhhhh eats it all. So excited for future updates

I just finished playing the demo and I'm practically vibrating. The hold this story has on me is insane. I am feeling so many feelings, I love this so much. Five stars 10/10, will
probablydefinitely be replaying this demo at least four times this week!!!!Kind of short but it has a lot of potential. Unlike most stories on itch I've seen the pacing of this one is balanced, moves quickly and has an interesting world. There's action but not too much. Very balanced, very fun and the cliffhanger is pretty good. Bravo. Hope to get an update soon. This story would beat 99% of WIPS on the Choice of Games thread imo.
MC has shadow super powers and still loses to randoms because they're ROs. Hope we get to kill them later.
Or the powers arent super op in broad daylight, take a toll on MC and the RO's arent useless and skilled fighters?
Have you read the intro for ROs? The description implied they're skilled fighters. And if you really process the story, you know our dear MC has constant headache there 😂. And looks like MC is only OP in the night. Day and sun shining? Skilled, yes, but not OP.

my problem is that the fight scene feels slow awkward and unsatisfying. not so much the fact that mc loses, but how they lose. also lunging at the swordsman and lunging at the random guy go down the same story path which makes no sense for the swordsman since it says "he has no weapon, he must be the easiest option right?" lol.

the way that i was so hooked and immersed with the way the story goes that i was sadly begging more when i saw that it's a demo. i was in the zone with how the mc was feeling, like i was getting frustrated with them (which was the point bcos it's a reader-insert story). i can't wait to see how this story goes!
Loved the way the immersion felt so real and intense, especially with the betrayal and the feelings of frustration's MC had to go through. Excited to see how things shape out for the next chapter, and to see how MC will fare when nothing went to plan at all.
